Exercise Saber Strike 15 demonstrates international cooperation capabilities

Approximately 6,000 personnel from 13 countries will participate in the US Army Europe led joint multinational exercise “Saber Strike 15” taking place in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland from 8 – 19 June. This year’s exercise objectives facilitate cooperation amongst Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Saber Strike is a long-standing U.S Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise conducted annually since 2010. Saber Strike is included NATO „Allied Shield” exercise series. Lithuania is a host nation of the Saber Strike 2015.

The aim of the exercise is to improve the cooperation and capabilities of the participating nations for future contingency operations. Saber Strike 15 also features the integration of U.S. close air support with partner nation ground forces and a demonstration of U.S. air deployment of forces and equipment. All activities will feature joint, multinational training among the participating nations.

The exercise trains participants on command and control as well as interoperability with regional partners. The exercise will consist of Field and Situational Training Exercises conducted in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland where the company level training will be held and a Command Post Exercise conducted in Lithuania, integrated with Danish division exercise Saber Knight.

More than 1000 soldiers from the Baltic States, the Great Britain, Finland and the US the Field and Situational Training Exercise which will take place in Adazi Training Area , Latvia from June 8 to June 19.

Saber Strike 15 will be the national level certification for the Baltic Battalion getting ready for the NATO Response Force certification exercise “Trident Juncture” held in the fall of 2015.

Dannish division led exercise Saber Knight which is integrated in the Saber Strike, will be held in Lithuania, Nemencine from June 1 to 12. More than 100 soldiers from Latvian NAtional Armed Forces Land Force Infantry Brigade will participate in this Command Post Exercise.
