NATO Secretary General to attend the demonstration of NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia military exercise “Resolute Warrior”

On Thursday, 14 November, the demonstration of the first full-scale exercise of NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia "Resolute Warrior" held at the Military Training Area Ādaži will be attended by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

The Saeima Speaker Daiga Mieriņa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže, Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds, Latvia’s Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš, officials from NATO and allied countries, including NATO Military Representatives and Permanent Representatives, as well as foreign ambassadors and military attachés accredited in Latvia will also attend the media and distinguished visitors’ day of the military exercise “Resolute Warrior”. 

During the media and distinguished visitors’ day, a joint press conference of NATO Secretary General M. Rutte and President of Latvia E. Rinkēvičs will take place at the Military Training Area Ādaži.

During the visit, NATO Secretary General of and the President of Latvia will also meet with soldiers of the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia and inspect NATO – Allied military equipment. 

NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia conducts its first major field exercise as a complete Brigade from November 1st to November 14 in the regions of Vidzeme and Zemgale. 

More than 3,500 allied troops are taking part in the exercise “Resolute Warrior” led by NATO's Multinational Division North, demonstrating the brigade's ability to conduct operations integrating all its subordinate and support units.

As reported earlier, on 17 October, at the Military Base Ādaži, the Canadian - led NATO Multinational Battle Group Latvia previously under the command of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces, was transferred to the command of NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia. 

NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia currently consists of 13 contributing nations, including Albania, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.

Media invitation

Members of the media are invited to attend the media and distinguished visitors’ day of the NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia military exercise “Resolute Warrior” on Thursday, 14 November. Arrival at the base checkpoint by 9.40. Departure to the event venue at 9.45.
